Poetry Week Continues

waiting on days,
(each just a piece of the many months)
paused, foot in air,
(our young ones still orbiting about us, unaware of time on hold.)

I'm anxiously waiting for this baby,
anxious to wait for the next one.
They are each anchors at the ends of long umbilical cords
holding me to this spinning globe
lest I hurl out tangentially
(in a perfect display of Newtonian physics)
with no chance of regaining orbit.
