Tuesday Poetry Corner

While cleaning out closets Saturday we ran across a book of writing I had given Julia when we were engaged. It was a compilation of prose I had written on the journey of discovering her. It was actually quite fun to reread the crazy path of my heart... enough drama that I actually think I could sell it to love sick twenty-somethings if I put it on Amazon. Here are a few random pages that seemed interesting enough to to share.

I've got ten thousand poems in me and
I am content with having no paper.

Like a tea,
I am flavored in the slow mulling
of the thoughts and feelings

Perhaps,
further down the road,
what brews in me on these patient nights
will be savored by another

Perhaps,
these poems are spoken in the
subtle ways I am changed.

As my fears have been
I find myself rationalizing love.
How as a child we thought love would fall upon us
like gravity, like sun.
How we desire to leave our minds outside of such importance,
to be lead only by our hearts.

6/24/02
She calls me
A wire across the ocean
Our hearts, our tongues
I listen
Long
Pray
I consider
Us, who she is, we are,
I hope
Pray
her into being
into my life and love
I want, I need
Need to want and want to need
Her
She needs and wants

good
This is her and me.

  1. Where can I get a copy of this book... I might know a couple of 20-somethings that might dig this stuff, LOL.

    Good poems bro.

  2. You're a really good writer! You didn't need to steal my poem for 10th grade english! :-)
