Imagine Josh Groban Committing Seppuku

A recent wine I have really come to like is Tormaresca Neprica 2007. I can think of no wine I have had under $20 nearly as good as this one, which costs less than $10 retail. At one point I had sworn off even drinking sub 20$ wines, but this one has renewed my interest in finding quality at those kinds of prices.

It is a very nicely played out wine with round fruit flavors up front and a tannin finish. The balance of flavors in this Southern Italian pairs it well with the likes of hearty tomato-based pasta dishes that appreciate both the bright tones and the edge.

The wine also has some practical features worth appreciating, such as no need for decanting, and it seems to hold its advantages for a longer time than most wines once uncorked. Also, the name of the wine sticks with you one you realize some clever marketer used an amalgamation of its constituents: Negroamaro 40% - Primitivo 30% - Cabernet Sauvignon 30%.

  1. It is interesting to me you think price is such a reliable indicator of quality. It seems like there are some reasons to doubt that: Most people buying wine can't accurately judge quality, so price and quality don't need to match up to sell wine; and wine sells for different prices in the country it is produced in (I've heard). Most important, this wine sells for $4.50 at my Randalls and is amazing! http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Daily_Wine/0,1142,2623,00.html
